30 Rock comes to 63rd st

Last night they were filming an episode of our 2nd favorite show at the Baker Street Pub on the corner. caused a lot of commotion. Didn't wait around to see the cast, as Selma Hayek does not play Jack's girlfriend anymore.

Happy St Patrick's Day from NYC

They have beautiful weather for the march up 5th Ave today. Forecast sunny and close to 20C.

Didn't bother seeing the parade this year (crossed off the bucket list) but now realize it is somewhat akin to Anzac Day: dress up, go for a march then adjourn to the pub and get plastered. same the world over. (no, that isn't Paul in the bottom photo)

dreadful weather for NYRRC 8000

went in this 8 km 'fun' run in Central Park this morning. It was 4 deg C, raining and blowing a gale, but still >2500 showed up. I did about 41 mins, and came 1013th. would have broken 40 but had to stop for at least a minute because of an equipment problem. Not bad for a grandpa! Winner did 24.

Mixing it with the high rollers at Harrah's casino in Las Vegas

Had a fun night. After a steak and a couple of drinks, hit the craps table and turned $20 into $80 playing the Pass line, then went to the 'Legends In Concert' show with tribute acts by Cher, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Elvis

Las Vegas: who needs to go to NY, Venice, Egypt, Africa or even a pirate island?

Las Vegas by night

'Paris Las Vegas' casino

In side 'Paris LV': who needs to go to Europe?

Dinner at Eiffel Tower restaurant (good but $$$$). It's located 1/3 of the way up the tower

Went early and got top table, with view of 'Bellagio' casino

'New York New York' casino. Across the street at MGM Grand casino, put $25 thru pokie in <2 minutes. I'm blaming the fact they didn't have my favorite Sydney machines, "Queen of the Nile" or "Monkey Madness"

Viva Las Vegas

In Vegas for a conference

you step of the plane and what is the first thing you see at the gate? Pokies!
view from the conference hotel (Marriott)
monorail to the Strip, which is about 3 km away ($5 a trip, but $14 for a one day pass and $30 for a 3 day one)

Boston MA and spring is in the air

Paul attended AAHPM conference at the Hynes Convention Center in the Back Bay nabe on March 5&6. The weather on Saturday was lovely: spring is almost here.

Copley Square, with Old Trinty Church dwarfed by John Hancock Tower. not good juxtaposition
Old South Church, opposite Copley Square
nice chestnut police horse, markings reminiscent of the great Melbourne sprinter Apache Cat
Newberry St. (Back Bay is Boston's Greenwich Village)
