went to third play of the Norman Conquests tilogy Wednesday night; they have turned Times Sq into a pedestrian mall now
Saturday cycled to Union Sq to drop off compost (how small is our carbon footprint!!!!) then onto Washington Sq, which recently re-opened
then a coffee stop at Joe's in Waverly place (THE coffee article will be published this Sunday!)
on Sunday went up to the Cloisters in Upper Manhattan with its beautiful cloister gardens
only built in 1938 but much of the stonework is from medieval European churches

Last Sunday, may 3rd: pre-departure

E.63rd St: 5 Boroughs bikeride (48 miles=80km)
it was very sad to see this 5 boroughs bike ride in progress in our street (30 miles to go). of course we all thought about dad and it was 6 months to the day that he died. He would have loved it. it was raining and a very bleak day for cyclists. we saw a lot of men about his age, could easily have been him.
