Welcome to Week 1 of the MSKCC Take the Stairs Challenge!
The MSKCC Employee Health and Wellness Services has started a weekly "Take the Stairs Challenge". May not be as easy when you live in Australian susburbia as when you live/work in Manhattan but if you want to join in, here's the challenge!
"Good Morning Climbers! Welcome to Week 1 of the MSKCC Take the Stairs Challenge!
This challenge is not only geared toward increasing physical activity and improving overall health but also to reducing our environmental impact by taking the stairs instead of using the elevators.
Each week we will climb up the stairs of an iconic NYC building. This week's challenge is to climb 40 flights (in total for the week), which is the equivalent of climbing up to the top of the New York Life Building at 51 Madison Avenue.
The New York Life Building was built in 1926.It is near Madison Square, the Flatiron District and Eataly. I is visible all over lower Manhattan because of its famous gold top.
The rules are:
1. at least 10 stairs to a flight
2. stairs between 2 floors = one flight
3. has to be UP, of course!
"Good luck and we look forward to seeing you in the stairwells!"
